Money TrailWho Gives to USD?A local abortionist, a lesbian state assemblywoman, and a famous Catholic political couple are among financial supporters named in the University of San Diego's 1999-2000 "Honor Roll of Donors." Published in early December, the 12-page report opens with a letter from university president Alice Hayes expressing her gratitude for "the many individuals who have made contributions to help the university fulfill our mission to our students, community and society. "Our donors include many friends of the university, generous parents of USD students, faithful alumni, dedicated members of our faculty and staff, partners in the corporate community, and philanthropic foundations. Each gift has had an impact on our ability to continue to provide a good education and contribute to learning." Donors within each of these categories are further classified according to gift amounts ranging from $1,000 and Above, $100-$999, and Gifts to $100. According to the report, Lynda E. and Fred W. Schnepper gave the school two contributions in the $100-$999 range under the categories of "Friends" and "Athletics." Fred Schnepper, M.D. is affiliated with the Sharp Rees-Stealy South Bay Women's Health Group in Chula Vista, where he earns his living in part by aborting pre-born children up to 12 weeks gestation. He holds a part-time, non-compensated board of directors position as the medical advisory chairman for Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Riverside Counties, according to that organization's 1999 tax return. Another "friend" who gave a $100-$999 donation to USD is California state assemblywoman Christine Kehoe, an open lesbian who served two terms on the San Diego City Council representing District 3, including the heavily homosexual community of Hillcrest. Although the Honor Roll does not state a specific reason for Kehoe's gift, possible uses for the funds might include the university's Student Alliance Embracing Sexual Orientation, which marched in the 1998 San Diego Gay Pride Parade; the Bi, Gay and Lesbian Law Students Association; the annual campus-wide celebration of Gay and Lesbian History Month each October; or the sponsorship of homosexualist speakers like Judy Shepard, mother of murdered gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard, who gave a speech during the school's "Hate Crimes Awareness Week" in September. Married celebrities Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger also contributed a gift in the $100-$999 range. Maria Shriver, a news correspondent for NBC, is the niece of U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA), well known for his pro-abortion views and support of pro-homosexual hate crimes legislation. Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is a "conservative" Republican. Other notable donors include:
