HURRAY FOR HOSPITAL MINISTRY

Your article "Workers of Mercy in the June 2005 issue was very accurate and informative. Those people who deserved credit were properly recognized. Especially Father Thomas, who single handedly created the ministry and had built it up from ground level to the present level of over 90 extraordinary Eucharistic ministers  serving the hospial sick. This clearly shows his unlimited dedication and energy for this cause. The compassion and  spiritual care for the sick has benefited many.

I, an extraordinary Eucharistic minister from All Hallows Parish in La Jolla where the ministry was first started, have been working with Father Thomas for the past eight years. I just want to add that the success of this ministry could not have been realized without the strong support of the pastors from whose parishes the ministers have come. Credit should therefore be also attributed to them. At all Hallows, from Father Purcell, the past pastor the the present Pastor Father Proctor, both of them have given their utmost support for the ministry. I consider their support a crucial element of the success, perhaps even the existence of the ministry. I am sure Father Thomas and members of the ministry as all much indebted to the support of those pastors.
